West Lancashire MP Visits Redwood TTM
Published 30th July 2025
Ashley Dalton MP, as Member of Parliament for West Lancashire, has today visited Redwood TTM, a leading manufacturer of specialist technical textiles, to see first-hand the company’s cutting-edge contributions to the healthcare sector and its vital role in the local economy.
Based in Skelmersdale, West Lancashire, Redwood TTM are pioneers in the design and production of high-performance treated fabrics used across a wide range of industries, including healthcare. Their specialist materials are used in medical equipment such as hospital beds, pressure care mattresses and moving & handling; products essential to supporting patients in hospitals, community care and social care settings across the UK.
Ms Dalton was given a comprehensive tour of the company’s facilities, showcasing Redwood’s innovative and sustainable manufacturing processes, including its state-of-the-art cutting and printing machinery and sewing operations. During the visit, the MP met with staff and witnessed firsthand how the business is both advancing medical technology and supporting jobs and skills locally.
The visit also provided an opportunity for Redwood TTM to highlight challenges currently facing the community equipment sector. Rising costs and increasing regulatory demands are placing strain on suppliers, with concerns that patients may experience delays in receiving essential equipment or be unable to access what they need altogether. The impact of these pressures is being felt across the care pathway, with particular implications for hospital discharge and ongoing community care.
Other topics discussed included Redwood’s central role in providing jobs and skills training in the local constituency. This includes a key partnership with the Sewing Rooms, a social enterprise empowering individuals in the local area to retrain in sewing and manufacturing industries.
Ashley Dalton MP, MP for West Lancashire, said:
“It was a pleasure to visit Redwood TTM today and see how a business rooted in our local community is delivering not just world-class healthcare technology but also valuable employment and training opportunities. The team’s passion for innovation and their commitment to social impact is truly inspiring. It’s businesses like this that show how health, care, and economic growth can go hand in hand and I look forward to following their successes.”
Darren Pilling, Managing Director at Redwood TTM, said:
“We’re hugely grateful to Ashley for taking the time to visit us today and for recognising the important role Redwood plays in supporting both patients and the local community. Every day, our team works to develop and deliver products that make a tangible difference to people’s lives. It means a great deal to have that work acknowledged and our concerns and priorities heard.”
David Stockdale, CEO of the British Healthcare Trades Association (BHTA), said:
“Redwood TTM are a leading presence in the medical technology space, delivering innovative solutions that benefit both healthcare providers and patients.
